Evaluation of 'Its Good to Talk'

Evaluation of the Preliminary task: When looking back at the documentary that we made, I found alot of things that could be changed and made better these include, ending the cuts too quickly, we should of gave more time, instead of cutting as soon as we did. We didnt include any fade into our work, this would of made it more appealing to the audience and create tension. The rule of thirds was not done correctly as we did not position Beth were we should of she was almost in the middle, were she should of been at the right hand side of the camera when being interviewed. Our song choice was incorrect because there was lyrics in the song, this took away the main image because the audience would be concentrating on the song rather listening to the main topic and thats what the interviewee was talking about. We didnt include the cutaways so it was just one whole boring documentary watching one person, which didnt give the audience enough detail because they couldnt get into depth about what they were listening to. We also didnt have any jumpcuts it just stayed focused on the one thing. The interviewee was moving, she didnt stay still and her eyeline was not correct as she looked in different directions when answering the questions, she didnt look interested, she was also slanted and it didnt look like a professional interview which was not right. The questions were not always clear so we had trouble trying to listening to what the interviewer was asking, we could only make out what she was saying by the reply that the interviewee was saying. The mise-en-scene didnt have any relevence to the interview. The camera work wasnt steady and looked unprofessional. There was parts of the interview were the music was louder in one place than in others so it was very jumpy. To end the documentary there should of been a fade, so the audience new that it was coming to an end and could create tension to finish it off.
